Workers' Comp Center
OSS TAKING CARE. OF YOUR INJURED WORKERS The OSS musculoskeletal center offers a variety of Workers' Compensation services including:
Orthopaedic care The orthopaedic physicians at OSS have a wide variety of experience at treating various orthopaedic injuries and illnesses. From strains, sprains and fractures to joint care, spine care and pain management, our goal is to keep employees and the community healthy by providing the best orthopaedic care available. OSS physicians provide appropriate return-to-work restrictions. In the rare event that time off is warranted, a detailed return-to-work plan will be provided with a target return-to-work date. Pain Management The OSS Pain Management team specializes in musculoskeletal pain, with a special interest in the non-surgical care of the neck and back. Using a team approach, the pain center is able to provide multi-level pain management treatments including therapy, exercise, medication and non-surgical interventional treatments, including x-ray guided spinal injections. These treatments are typically performed in the OSS Ambulatory Surgical Center, conveniently located at the OSS Powder Mill Road campus. To schedule an appointment, call 717-747-8308. Diagnostic Services An electrodiagnostic consultation can be helpful in evaluating the nature of numbness, tingling, pain, weakness, fatigue and/or muscle cramps. The various studies that are useful in studying nerve and muscle function include nerve conduction studies and electromyography (EMG). The examination usually takes anywhere from 20-60 minutes. There is no need for any restrictions to be imposed on activity either before or after the testing. For further questions, or to make an appointment, call 848-4800. Imaging Services The OSS Imaging Center at the Powder Mill location uses state-of-the-art technology to meet your imaging needs. We offer two Full-body High Field Magnets, one Extremity Magnet (for MRI's from the elbow down and from the knee down), CT Scan, X-ray and Ultrasound. All reports are interpreted by specially trained radiologists at the Cleveland Clinic Division of Radiology via telecommunications. The results of the tests are available within 48 hours. We realize a patient's diagnosis and treatment are often determined by imaging test results; therefore, the staff does their best to schedule each patient as soon as possible. The dedicated Imaging scheduling line is 717-747-8304. Physical and Occupational Therapy Often with orthopaedic injuries, exercise and physical/occupational therapy can play a large role in returning the patient to a full recovery. OSS offers comprehensive physical and occupational therapy to meet the needs of all of our patients. In addition to traditional therapies, we offer specialized services for spine, sports medicine, upper extremity and hand problems, as well as general orthopaedic problems. Our rehabilitation team includes a board-certified physiatrist, Michael Furman, MD, two certified hand therapists, and therapists specially trained to care for spine problems. Urgent Care As part of our ongoing commitment to provide the highest quality orthopaedic care available, OSS offers extended care hours for minor orthopaedic and spine injuries. The Urgent Care Center at the Powder Mill Road location is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday. The entrance is located next to the orthopaedic entrance on the OSS campus. Care is provided by an orthopaedic specialist. While we can accommodate walk-in patients, a phone call to our Urgent Care Center can help us provide more timely and efficient care. The Urgent Care Center can be reached at 717-747-8315. Avoid those typical emergency room delays and visit the OSS Urgent Care Center. Case Management Services Timely communication is a very important part of any effective team. To help keep employers and insurance companies informed on the status of an injured worker, OSS employs a full time nurse case manager. The direct dial for employers and insurance companies with questions regarding specific cases is 717-747-8316. The case manager speaks directly with the physician to address these questions. Workers' Comp Help Line This line is for patients, employers and the community to ask general workers' compensation questions and/or express concerns. The Workers' Comp Help Line number is 717-747-8317. Please feel free to use OSS as a valuable resource in your workers' comp program. On-site Pharmacy OSS offers an on-site pharmacy service to help eliminate long waits at the pharmacy, days of waiting for authorizations, and co-pays.Industrial Pharmacy Management (IPM) has a pharmacy technician on site at OSS to dispense medication prescribed by OSS physicians. All prescriptions are pre-packaged by dose and size, double sealed and labeled. IPM is 100% compliant with all state and federal regulatory agencies. In Workers' Compensation cases, regardless of the claim status, patients will receive their medication before leaving the office. Work Link At OSS, we understand that the injured worker’s rehabilitation process is unique. Work Link is a program designed to return the injured worker safely back to work keeping all parties, from the insurance company to the nurse case manager to the employer, informed on the treatment plan and status of the injured worker through case management. Work Conditioning provides task-specific conditioning with an established return-to-work goal. Individual programs are developed to help condition the worker to be able to perform the essential job tasks as indicated by the job description. Ergonomic assessments and onsite education are also part of the Work Link line of service. Phone Directory
