Trauma
The foot and ankle are complex and made up of many bones, ligaments, and nerves. When these are damaged due to a bad trauma such as a car or industrial accident, repairing the damage to some of these delicate structures can be difficult. In some cases, a surgical fusion of the joint (arthrodesis) or replacement of the joint (arthroplasty) may be necessary. A specially trained orthopaedic surgeon can perform this type of procedure to allow for improved function and relief from pain. Return to Podiatry |
